DEMOCRACY 'THRIVING'

MANAMA: Democracy thrives on different viewpoints, said the Premier yesterday.

He told MPs when he visited parliament that clashes of opinion should never be an obstacle to progress.

"The spirit of collective responsibility places us above such minor things," he said during talks with chairman Khalifa Al Dhahrani and other MPs.

Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa also highlighted the importance of ongoing co-operation between the country's leadership and parliament.

"Such blessed co-operation will enable us to rationalise our thoughts. We are strong through collective co-operation, evaluating and appreciating the great efforts being exerted by parliament's chairman, members and committees in further strengthening the national march," he said.

He was accompanied by Transportation Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Premier's Court Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Labour Minister Dr Majeed Al Alawi and other officials.
