MANAMA: A new-look government featuring three deputy premiers was yesterday unveiled by His Majesty King Hamad.
Outgoing Foreign Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa has been appointed Deputy Premier for Ministry Committees' Affairs. He will also undertake issues delegated to him by Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. He will be replaced by Bahrain Ambassador to the UK Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
Transportation Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa has also been appointed Deputy Premier in tandem with his position as Transportation Minister.
Under the same government reshuffle, Dr Abdulhussain Mirza has been appointed National Oil and Gas Authority chairman, while retaining his rank as minister of state. He will be replaced as Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs by current Central Informatics Organisation head Shaikh Ahmed bin Ateyatalla Al Khalifa.
Meanwhile, outgoing Oil Minister Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa has joined the Premier's Court as advisor for industrial and oil affairs with the rank of minister.
Outgoing national security chief Dr Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Ateyatalla Al Khalifa has also been appointed Premier's Court advisor for security affairs with the rank of minister, ceding his position to Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
