MANAMA: Almost half of the candidates offered jobs so far under the BD30 million National Employment Project have refused them. Out of 1,813 Bahraini job-seekers interviewed, only 977 have accepted the positions offered to them.

A total of 2,161 were called for interviews, but 348 failed to show up, project director and Labour Ministry assistant under-secretary for training Ahmed Al Banna said yesterday.

"Many of them wanted government jobs or were willing to work only in single shifts," he told the GDN.
