A GRAND finale to mark the end of a two-month long arts and sports festival will be held on Friday. The event is organised by the St Thomas Orthodox Youth Movement under St Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church.
Smruthi 2007, commemorating Saint Vattaseril Dionysius Metropolitan, is to be held at the Indian School's Jashanmal Auditorium, in Isa Town, at 4pm.
Church members who were divided into five houses, based on their age, participated in a month-long arts, sports and cultural competition.
Trophies will be awarded to individual winners and group champions who secured highest points in each age group at the event.
The event has proved to be a success by the increasing number of participants and the enthusiasm of the members, said organisers.
It also helps to develop the leadership and organisational skills of the youth movement members who co-ordinated the programme professionally.
This year more than 500 members took part in various events that ran from April 13 to June 1.
Chief guest will be renowned Indian film director Lenin Rajendran, while guests of honour will be Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam president G K Nair and GDN associate editor Soman Baby.
Audience at the event will be entertained with a musical feast by Radio Asia Dubai fame Rajeev Kodampalli and Asianet Radio Dubai singer Anjana.
Entry, which is free, is restricted to church members. For more information, contact Mathew Varghese on 36050420 or Jaison Attuva on 39026929.
