Residents in Saar protest water ordeal

MANAMA: Residents in a compound near Saar are demanding action after reportedly being without water in their homes for more than 48 hours.

Householders living in Mansoor Villas in Al Qurayyah said the problem began on Thursday night and is still to be fixed.

One resident, who did not want to be named, said he and his neighbours initially tried to get through to the Electricity and Water Ministry's emergency number but did not get a reply.

The Briton told the GDN that when someone was eventually successful a team came out and supposedly fixed the problem, but the water was off again yesterday morning.

"I spoke to the landlord and he said that other compounds have also been affected," said the 59-year-old businessman, who has lived in Bahrain for eight years.

"People in our compound are very upset about it.

"There are six families here and some have children and babies. "There is not even enough pressure to operate the washing machine. It is ridiculous. "I was due to attend a function but now I can't because of the problem."
