MANAMA: A Bahrain scientist claims to have found a possible cure for killer diseases including Aids and cancer.
The potentially groundbreaking discovery has been made by Dr Moiz Bakhiet, professor of immunology and senior consultant neurologist at Arabian Gulf University (AGU), Salmaniya.
He claims to have found a molecule "hidden" in the spleen, which can be used to boost the body's immune system.
Dr Bakhiet says it has life-saving potential since it could be used to counteract diseases like Aids, which attack the immune system.
He claimed it could also be used to treat cancer patients, whose immune systems are compromised.
The professor, originally from Sudan but now holding Swedish citizenship, says his discovery could eventually be used to treat other conditions such as respiratory, kidney and liver diseases, along with arthritis.
