MANAMA: Gulf Air has cancelled two of its 25 flights from Bahrain to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday due to maintenance work on the airport runway in Abu Dhabi, it was announced yesterday.
Gulf Air flights GF548 and GF549 will be cancelled, while flights GF540 and GF541 will be delayed, said a Gulf Air spokesman.
"Passengers whose flights are cancelled will have them rescheduled," he said.
"This is completely out of our hands, but we will do our best to accommodate our passengers."
Maintenance work on the airport runway at Abu Dhabi is being carried out next week by the Abu Dhabi Airports Company and will force Etihad Airways to cancel eight of its 95 daily flights.
A significant number of other flights will have their departure or arrival times either brought forward or delayed to avoid the runway closure.
Although routine, the maintenance work is said to be essential and will mean the airport's runway will be temporarily closed between 2.15am and 2.15pm (UAE time) on Tuesday.
The cancelled Etihad flights include EY371 and EY372, which operate from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain and Bahrain to Abu Dhabi.
Etihad customers booked to travel to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday should visit www.etihadairways.com or contact its call centre +971026939800 to check the status of flights.
