Pakistan Urdu School triumph

PAKISTAN Urdu School retained the Under-17 Schools and Youth BCA - Alba Cricket Cup following a 28-run victory over the Indian School in the final.

The Indian School, the tournament's dark horses, were aiming for a third consecutive championship this year but the Pakistan Urdu School restricted them to 128 for seven in 20 overs to win for the fourth time in a row.

Earlier, Irfan (45) was the top scorer for Pakistan Urdu School while captain Fahad Farook Aziz made a quick 27 in the opening overs to set up a challenging target of 156 all out.

Thaha Ali was the most successful bowler for the Indian School taking four wickets for 29 runs.

Opener Pratham Kashyap made the bulk of scoring for the Indian School with a fine 33 runs. Junaid Aziz was the pick of the Pakistan Urdu school bowlers claiming three wickets.

In a consolation match, Pakistan School defeated Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School by 11 runs to win third place.

The Pakistan School scored 160 for the loss of four wickets with Noman scoring 79 runs. Ajnas Sarfuddin, Abdullah Shahzad, Aslam Abubaker and Sammer claimed a wicket each.

In reply, Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School managed 149 for six wickets with Ahmad Minwal making the bulk of scoring with 25 runs. Ajnas Sarfuddin (20) and Sameer Abbas (3 for 24 runs) were the successful bowlers.

Bahrain Cricket Association president Mohammed Ali Abul was the chief guest and honoured the winners at the prize-giving ceremony held right after the match.

Pratham won the best batsman award, Cyrus D'Souza of the Indian School was the best bowler while Fahad Farook Aziz of Pakistan Urdu School and Ajnas Sarfuddin of Ibn Al Hytham Islamic were the best all-rounder and best fielder respectively.

Other prizes went to Ubaid Murtaza (best wicket-keeper) of Pakistan School, Fahad Farook Aziz (man of the final match) of Pakistan Urdu School and Pratham (player of the tournament). Junaid Aziz of Pakistan Urdu School won the prize for the promising player.
