Women's cricket clash set

THE Kudlotsava Bahrain Ladies Seven-a-Side Cricket Tournament will be held tomorrow at The Indian Club grounds.

The event will take place between 9am and 5pm. It kick starts the fourth chapter of Kudlotsava 2009 month-long sports and cultural events.

The tournament will be played in league format with the winners receiving two points. The two teams with the highest points qualify for the final, which will be played on June 5.

The winners receive the Kudlotsava Bahrain 2009 trophy. There will also be awards for the best hitter, best bowler, best fielder and the top performer in each match will be honoured with prizes by sponsors.

There will also be a special cash prize for the team which presents itself with the best cricket dress on the field.

The four main ladies teams, with members hailing from the Kudla belt, include Bunts Bahrain, Kannada Sangha, Lovely Friends, and Robecco.

The tournament's main coordinator is D Ramesh who is also the Mangalore Cultural and Charitable Association sports secretary. The event's organising committee is headed by president Anand Lobo.


Team captains were briefed on the rules of the game at a special meeting held at Central CafŽ, who are the title sponsors of the tournament.

The main sponsor is Bahrain Financing Co. Other sponsors include Etisalcom, Al Jazira Group of Companies, IPS Trade, Prudential Management and Marketing, Ford, and Johnson and Johnson.
