Bahrain's humanitarian role praised by GCC envoys

AMMAN: Bahrain's charitable and humanitarian projects in friendly countries were hailed by GCC ambassadors last night.

This came as Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended a dinner banquet, hosted by Bahrain's Ambassador to Jordan Nasser bin Rashid Al Ka'abi, marking the opening of Bahrain Scientific Complex for the children of Syrian refugees at Al Zaatari Camp.

Shaikh Nasser conveyed His Majesty King Hamad's thanks to the envoys for their efforts to bolster ties between GCC and friendly nations.

He expressed pride in royal directives to implement development and humanitarian projects for refugees.

He confirmed the importance of enhancing GCC action on charitable and humanitarian projects to support people hit by disasters, calamities and humanitarian crises, in line with Islamic precepts.

Mr Al Ka'abi said the King's gesture to establish the complex reflected his keenness to alleviate the refugees' suffering and give their children an opportunity to continue their education.

The ambassadors thanked the King for his efforts, along with other leaders, to consolidate GCC role. They noted Bahrain's support for the needy, praising the role of Shaikh Nasser under whose leadership RCO has launched humanitarian projects in many countries and contributed to promoting security for their people.

They said the initiatives confirmed Bahrain's pioneering position in the field and were a source of pride for GCC and Arab countries.
