THE Interior Minister thanked citizens for maintaining calm during Ashoora rituals.
He also praised security forces for efforts to protect religious freedom and Hussainiyat Processions Authority for co-operation to ensure order.
He said calm was maintained due to the success in keeping politics away from religion, achieved in co-operation with various groups.
The minister said a small group disturbed order to politicise the occasion. Rioters used processions to be filmed to give the impression that they were part of the marches. They then used the videos to try to make it appear that security forces were limiting religious freedom, he added.
He said investigations led to the identification of many people and legal actions were taken to arrest them.
He stressed peace for the kingdom's sake.
