THE Cabinet yesterday approved holidays for private sector employees.
They will be entitled to fully-paid holidays on the New Hijri Year, Ashoora, Prophet's birthday, Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha, the New Year and the Labour Day.
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired the meeting at Gudaibiya Palace and hailed the sixth meeting of heads of GCC national assemblies in Bahrain.
He said such meetings aimed to unify efforts to work on new mechanisms to bolster co-operation to face challenges.
He ordered ministers to co-operate with the legislative authority and substantiate their replies with documents for clarity.
He urged co-ordination with institutions concerned before taking executive or legal procedures on draft laws to foster partnership in decision-making and ensure targeted groups benefit.
The Premier praised the appointment of Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa as Minister of State for Communication Affairs which, he said, will contribute to upgrading the sector.
The Premier asked officials to enhance productivity and upgrade the government's performance by promoting excellence and competitiveness labs.
He approved naming the Social Development Ministry as a specialised administrative authority in charge of societies, accommodation places, expat cultural and social clubs and those created by private sector firms and establishments and the setting up of a high-tech lab for fish farming in co-operation with China.
Progress of 587 government projects was also reviewed.
