Rainy weather spurs warning

MANAMA: Traffic officials issued another warning to motorists yesterday to be cautious and comply with safety requirements while driving in rainy weather witnessed by Bahrain.

It came as a Bahraini woman died after she was hit by a car while she was trying to cross a road in Sakhir yesterday.

The incident took place on Umm Jader Road at around 5pm when she was hit by a Bahraini-driven car.

Her body was taken to Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) morgue.

In another accident yesterday, three Bahraini bikers were critically injured when their motorcycles skidded in Hidd.

The incident took place on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway at around 2.30am when one of the bikers was trying to overtake another.

All three sustained injuries and were taken to SMC.

Two Bahraini drivers escaped unhurt in another accident on the same highway at around 4.30pm.

It happened when the driver of a Ford Mustang slipped and crashed into a Mazda. The impact was so severe that the driver of the Mazda lost control and crashed into a cement barrier.

It caused major tailbacks and traffic police arrived to clear the road.

Meanwhile, the Met Department at the Civil Aviation Affairs forecast a cold and hazy weather, partly cloudy at times.

It also forecast northwesterly to northerly winds ranging from 15 to 20 knots, dropping to 10-15 knots overnight.

Maximum temperature was 21 degrees Celsius and minimum 14 degrees Celsius.
