MANAMA: The tremendous efforts put in by the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO), led by its board of trustees chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, won high praise yesterday.
His Majesty King Hamad, Honorary President of the RCO, hailed its work as he received its board members, led by Shaikh Nasser, and a group of Bahraini mothers and orphans, who thanked the King for his constant support and care.
He praised the humanitarian and developmental work and great efforts made by the organisation's affiliates to help people in need in the kingdom, as well as in other countries.
The King pointed out RCO's care for orphans by providing them educational services and programmes to ensure their financial and emotional relief.
He directed that efforts be focused on quality of educational, social and financial support, saying that he is looking forward to achieving what is best for Bahraini orphans to serve their country.
Shaikh Nasser thanked the King for supporting the RCO.
He congratulated His Majesty for being chosen as the 2012 Humanitarian Personality of the Year and acknowledged his key role in supporting the needy all over the world as well as his charitable contributions to help friendly countries and people in dire need.
Shaikh Nasser pointed out that thanks to the King, the RCO had been able to support around 10,000 orphans and widows financially, socially, medically and educationally.
He also outlined the humanitarian work undertaken by the RCO in different parts of the world.
Later, student Hanadi Rasheed Al Enizi recited a poem dedicated to the King.
Shaikh Nasser presented His Majesty with a commemorative gift in recognition of his efforts and support.
