Terror blast condemned

GCC SECRETARY-GENERAL Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani yesterday condemned the terror blast in Bani Jamra which left seven policemen injured.

In a statement to Bahrain News Agency, he denounced the heinous act which targeted policemen as they were performing their duties.

He hailed the competence of the policemen who tracked down several suspects following the incident and wished the injured quick recovery.

"Such terror acts will not prevent policemen from performing their duties and assuming their responsibilities in protecting national security," he said.

Meanwhile, the Shura Council issued a statement condemning the attack which also left one of the policemen with an amputated leg.

It condemned acts of sabotage and violence perpetrated by rogue parties that are seeking to throw the country into chaos to serve foreign goals.

It praised the dedication of security personnel and their efforts to maintain order according to the law and reiterated the rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism.

It also urged to confront such criminal acts decisively by enforcing the law and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Moreover, the council called on clerics and imams to promote moderation, unity and denunciation of violence.

It urged political societies, civil society institutions and citizens to assume their national responsibilities in these circumstances undergone by the nation.

It added that the door for dialogue is always open and can never be blocked.

Parliamentary foreign affairs, defence and national security committee chairman Abdulrahman Boumajeed also strongly condemned the attack.

He described daily acts of sabotage and continuous escalation of violence as contravening all international conventions and stressed the need to enforce the rule of the law and hold the perpetrators as well as instigators accountable.

Mr Boumajeed paid tribute to the security forces for performing their duties and hailed their sacrifices for the sake of Bahrain and its citizens.
