Art gala raises BD15,000 for migrant workers

MORE than BD15,000 was raised during a Ramadan art gala in support of the Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS).

It was held by the Capital Club in collaboration with Y K Almoayyed managing director and former MWPS chairwoman Mona Almoayyed.

It featured live art auction, musical performance by notable Bahraini ensemble Bin Faris and a mixed grill ghabga feast.

Local artists Uzma Dadabhai, Abbas Al Mosawi and Thajba Najeeb also donated a series of paintings for the auction.

"As a Bahraini artist, it is a privilege to be a part of this important initiative, sharing our collective passions to help the people of our community," said Ms Najeeb.

"We have the opportunity to create a voice for those often left unheard - and we appreciate the efforts of MWPS and those who are supporting this cause."

All proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will benefit MWPS in their mission to help exploited expatriate workers.
