Shaikh Faisal horse show set

THE sixth edition of the late Shaikh Faisal bin Hamad Al Khalifa National Arabian Horse Show (Arabian horses) will kick off tomorrow at 5.30pm at the Bahrain International Endurance Village and conclude on Saturday.

Organised by Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef), the event is being held under the patronage of chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, president of Bahrain Olympic Committee and Breef honorary chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

It will be supervised by local and international experts in the fields of veterinary, judging and registration, including skilled professionals from Belgium, Morocco, India, Switzerland and Dominican Republic.

Shaikh Nasser approved the members of the Supreme Organising Committee headed by Breef president Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.

The event is a locally-organised contest in accordance to the rules and standards of international Arabian horse organisations such as the official World Arabian Horse Organisation (Waho) in London, European Conference of Arab Horse Organisations (Ecaho) in Germany and the International Federation for Equestrian sports (FŽdŽration ƒquestre Internationale, FEI) in Switzerland.

Shaikh Faisal said the show is a special event organised in memory of the Late Shaikh Faisal bin Hamad Al Khalifa as well as highlighting a deep-rooted sport of Bahraini heritage. He pointed out that all the shows organised in the past five years were very successful.

"Members of the organising committee held several meetings recently to discuss the progress of preparations and to ensure the success of the show," the Breef president added.

"Breef is aiming to support, improve and reinforce local horse breeders and to encourage them to participate in international Arabian horse shows."
