Why are our workers still paid a pittance?

It is both disgraceful and shameful to note from the caption of one of the Iftar photos (GDN, July 22), that workers are in this day and age being paid a paltry salary of between BD40 and BD45 per month.

Stop for a second, close your eyes and imagine how you would be able to maintain yourself in a foreign land and a family back home on this pittance.
